Hot US CPI hits gold and the euro midweek; MT5 adds more liquidity and AI talk
Hot US September CPI (3.7% y/y) pushed gold and EURUSD lower midweek, and both bounced by Friday 16 Oct. MetaQuotes news this week covered liquidity (FinPrime on Ultency) and broker demand for AI tools.
EA, AI and automation
- FinPrime liquidity now plugs straight into MT5 via Ultency
Institutional liquidity provider FinPrime has integrated with MetaQuotes' Ultency matching engine, so MT5 brokers can reach its liquidity without an external bridge or a separate aggregation layer (14 Oct 2026). Ultency handles aggregation, matching, execution and risk inside MT5. MetaTrader 5 News - Brokers at Forex Expo Dubai: AI tools moving from extra to expected
In interviews MetaQuotes published on 13 Oct 2026, brokers said trader demand for AI tools is rising fast, and some are testing the built-in MT5 AI Assistant. One said AI features are "gradually becoming a must-have of modern trading technology." MetaTrader 5 News - Axi: more than 60% of clients now on MT5
Axi says more than 60% of its customers have moved to MetaTrader 5 and that the switch from MT4 brought more automation and better access controls. It has also started an early rollout of Ultency. Published 7 Oct 2026, a few days before this brief's window. MetaTrader 5 News
Gold and forex moves that matter for EAs

RoboForex put spot gold around 4,187 USD on 16 Oct, with December futures above 4,200 USD, as lower yields and a softer dollar helped. The source gives no weekly % change. RoboForex weekly gold forecast (16 Oct 2026) - EURUSD hit its lowest since May 2025, then bounced

What it means for EAs
- No major central bank rate decision is listed for 19-23 Oct. The big ones come the week after: RBNZ on 27 Oct, BoC and the Fed on 28 Oct, the ECB on 29 Oct and the BoJ on 30 Oct. A news filter set for 'rate decisions only' will not stop trading this week.
- Last week's CPI release showed how fast gold and EURUSD can move on one US number. This week UK CPI (Wed) and Canada CPI (Mon) can do the same to GBP and CAD pairs. Check that your EA's news filter covers those currencies, not just USD.
- Spreads on XAUUSD often widen around releases and at the daily rollover. An EA with tight stop-losses or a max-spread check may skip trades or get stopped out more often then. Check the max-spread setting against your broker's real gold spreads at those times.
- When yields are high (USAGOLD said the US 10-year was heading toward 5.2%), swap costs on gold and USD pairs can change. Grid or hold-overnight EAs should check their broker's current swap rates.
