Send your EA's record and your firm's rules. We check where open trades would have hit the daily or max loss.

How to test your EA against FTMO rules

  1. Get a record of your EA. Backtest: in the MT5 Strategy Tester, right-click the Backtest tab and save the report as HTML. Account: in the Toolbox, History tab, right-click, Report, HTML.
  2. Load the file above, or paste a CSV with time, profit, commission and swap (or just date, profit per day).
  3. Enter the start balance, or leave it blank if the report starts with a deposit.
  4. Pick an FTMO preset or type your firm's numbers. Leave a rule blank to skip it.
  5. Read the result and the day table. Red rows are days where the closed-trade balance went below a floor.

For the room left today on a live account (with open trades), use the prop firm drawdown calculator. To check a full record by email, see the prop check.

How it works

Daily floor

Balance at the start of the day minus the daily limit. The limit is a % of the start balance (FTMO) or of the start-of-day balance.

Max floor

Start balance minus the max loss (static), or the highest start-of-day balance minus the max loss (trailing end-of-day, FTMO 1-Step).

Lowest point

The balance after each closed deal, in time order. The lowest one each day is checked against both floors.

FTMO preset values from ftmo.com/en/trading-objectives, checked 18 Oct 2026. The 1-Step consistency rule (best day at most 50% of total profit) applies to accounts from orders on or after 12 Oct 2026. Rules change: check the firm's page before you start.

Questions

Which file do I export from MT5?

For a backtest: in the Strategy Tester, right-click the Backtest tab and save the report as HTML. For a live or demo account: in the Toolbox, History tab, right-click and choose Report, then HTML. Use the English report. A CSV of closed deals (time, profit, commission, swap) or a simple two-column date, profit file also works.

Does this check include floating (open) losses?

No. It only sees closed trades, so it uses the closed-trade balance. Prop firms check equity, which includes open trades. A grid or martingale EA can break the daily loss limit with open trades even when every closed day looks fine, so treat a pass here as the best case.

Which FTMO rules does the preset use?

From ftmo.com/en/trading-objectives, checked 18 Oct 2026. 2-Step: 10% target (5% in Verification), 5% daily loss of initial capital from the start-of-day balance, 10% static max loss, 4 trading days. 1-Step: 10% target, 3% daily loss, 10% end-of-day trailing max loss, best day at most 50% of total profit.

How is the daily loss counted?

The floor for each day is the balance at the start of that day minus the daily limit. The limit is a percent of the start balance (as at FTMO) or of the start-of-day balance, as you choose. Days follow the times in your file; use the time shift if your firm's day starts at a different hour.

What counts as a trading day?

At FTMO, a day on which at least one position is opened. If your file has a Direction column (MT5 report), only days with an opening deal count. A CSV without it counts every day with a closed deal.
