Investezo Weekly · Week 42: 3 things that mattered (12–16 Oct 2026)
1. US inflation came in hot
On Wednesday 14 Oct both consumer and producer prices beat forecasts. Gold dropped about $60 within 15 minutes of the 8:30 ET release and bottomed near $4,074. The dollar and yields jumped, then gave it all back: the US 10-year yield ended the week near 5.09% (from about 5.24%) and the dollar index about 0.5% lower.
For EA traders: a classic news spike. Grid and martingale systems feel these minutes most. Check your news filter and spread limit.
2. Oil topped $100
Crude rose about 8% on the week and crossed $100 on Friday. Analysts link higher oil to inflation fears and tighter Fed expectations, one reason gold has not rallied on Middle East tension. The Canadian dollar finished first among the majors.
For EA traders: oil-driven inflation news can move gold and CAD in the same hour. Watch correlated exposure.
3. Gold: 7 losing weeks in a row
Gold traded about $4,075–4,215 and finished slightly lower, its 7th straight weekly fall and the longest run since 1996. Against that, central banks bought a net 63 tonnes in September, the most in 2 years.
For EA traders: a slow grind lower with sharp news spikes. Trend and hedged grid models behave very differently here. Compare live records, not backtests. Try the Gold EA Survival Lab.
